After being married to Talia Balsam from 1989 until 1993, George Clooney declared a state of bachelorhood, and his relationship history confirms it. Born and raised in Kentucky, he had planned a career in law or professional baseball before turning to acting. He is now an actor, director, producer and screenwriter. Hollywood.com has declared him the top bachelor in Hollywood. He is often seen dating the most beautiful women and doesn't show signs of settling down anytime soon. His relationship history is long and confusing at times, but here are a few of his longest and most publicized relationships. Try to follow along.

1996-1999: While filming "The Peacemaker" in Paris, George began dating a 23-year-old waitress name Celine Balitran. She was a French law student who ended up following him back to Los Angeles, where they lived together until 1999. Celine told People magazine, "It's out of the question to start the day without having breakfast together. We wake up in each other's arms, and we can't wait for evening to be together again." George told Esquire magazine that they broke up due to his fear of intimacy.

1999-2002: George went on a dating spree during this three-year span. In 1999 he was linked to Brooke Langton; in 2000 he briefly dated Charlize Theron, Julia Roberts, and Lucy Liu. He dated British model Lisa Snowdon from 2000 until 2001. His relationship with Lisa reportedly ended due to work overload, but they would get back together in 2004. In 2001 George was coupled with Renee Zellweger for two months and then later was rumored to have dated UK columnist Mariella Frustrup, whom he had met at the Cannes Film Festival. Mariella and George have always said they were just friends.

2002-2004: George entered another long-term relationship in 2002, when he began dating model/actress Krista Allen. They met when he cast her in his directorial debut film, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind." Krista ended the relationship in 2004, but that would not be the end for them.

2004-2006: Beginning with Lisa Snowdon, these were the rekindled romance years for George. They were back in each other's arms during most of these two years but would officially end it in 2006. After his failed second attempt with Lisa, he went back to Krista Allen in 2006 for the second time. That second try ended as well.

2006-2009: In September 2007 George would begin dating Las Vegas waitress Sarah Larson. They made headlines when they were involved in a motorcycle accident in New Jersey. Sarah would also become the first and only date George ever brought to the Academy Awards ceremony. After they broke up in the spring of 2008, he would return to former girlfriend Krista Allen for the third time, although neither of them would confirm this.

2009-present: When George started dating Italian journalist Elisabetta Canalis this year, he made it clear to the world that he prefers brunettes. They met in Rome after being introduced by a mutual friend and went public with their relationship in September.

Reading through the details of George Clooney's relationship history can be time consuming. After all, he didn't get his reputation for dating beautiful women and being one of Hollywood's most notorious bachelors for nothing. He earned it.
