She summed up enough courage to leave him
As if throwing out her books
From their apartment was not enough
For her to finally strike back against him.
Looking around the cold yet sun-filtered room
She found herself occupied by past memories
When laughter was common and scent of oranges
Captivated her constantly. But now
Her stomach hurts and her vision is blurry from tears,
She is locked in silent gratitude that the pain,
Emotional,
Has yet to come.
