South Park is an extremely popular show among teenage audiences and young adults. But what makes this show successful? By adding a variety of characters in this TV show, various types of humour are formed within the show and audiences relate to different characters, contributing to the shows success. But is this show funny is you don't even know who the main characters are? You will get a few laughs, but without knowing the famous recurring gags and personalities of the characters you will not expect to find this show funny. However, in this guide you will find out a little about each character's personalities and famous lines.

This show is set in the town of South Park, which is where most of the storylines take place. The main characters in this show include Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny. Stanley Marsh, or more commonly referred to as Stan, is one of the four main characters in the show. Stan often wears his awesome blue beanie. To view a picture of this character, click here. Stan is not one of the most funny characters in the show, but he is good at making Cartman look like a fat idiot, but nowhere near as good as Kyle. Kyle Broflovski is another main character on South Park. He wears a green beanie, and is Cartman's arch enemy. They always tend to fight, however it is often Cartman's fault for insulting Kyle. It is usually about his Jewish religion. Eric Cartman is one of the most funny characters in the show. Apart from his voice, Cartman is hilarious for his selfish and greedy personality. There are many examples of this, such as when he eats all the Kentucky Fried Chicken for himself. This is a picture of Cartman. One of Cartman's main lines is "Screw you guys, I'm going home," which is extremely funny, especially the way he says it. Kenny is another funny character. He always wears his orange hoody, and every episode he dies in some way. When he dies, Stan will always say, "Oh my God you killed Kenny." Before Kyle adds, "You b@stard!" Kenny can be found here.These are the main four characters, which contributes to the shows success.

Some less popular, however still extremely funny and common characters are characters such as Chef, the obese African American cafeteria worker and Timmy, the disabled boy who can only yell his name, "Timmy!" It is extremely funny the way he says it and it is a recurring gag. Other characters include Butters, one of the more gullible characters and Stan's dad and Mr Garrison, the gay forth grade teacher of the four main boys. It is clearly shown in South Park that these hilarious characters make this show so popular.

These characters- the main ones including Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny, as well as other less common characters including Chef, Timmy, Butters and Mr Garrison contribute to this shows success.
