Over time fairytales will change. As each person tells some one else it changes a little each time. Fairytales are different viewpoints of many people who change the story to their liking. All fairytales have similarities and differences. The Disney movie Cinderella was released February 15, 1950. The story Cinderella as told by Brothers Grimm has been around for many years. The Disney version and the Brothers Grimm version of Cinderella" include symbols of different things in Cinderella's life like her fairy godmother/mother, her father, and her stepmother, each one has an effect on her.
In the Brothers Grimm version Cinderella's mother is on her deathbed and tells Cinderella that she will always watch over her. Cinderella had planted a tree next to her mother's grave site everyday Cinderella would visit and cry. The tears fell on to the tree and it grew to be an enormous tree. When she sat beneath the tree a little bird came and perched on a branch in the tree. The little bird would grant Cinderella what ever she wished for. When it came time for the festival Cinderella wished for a silver and gold dress and the little bird granted her wish. As each day of the festival went on the bird granted her an even more beautiful dress than the night before.
In the Disney movie, Cinderella has a fairy godmother that appears and said she has always been watching over her. The fairy godmother had heard her crying about not going to the ball. She gives Cinderella something she has wanted her whole life. Cinderella gets a dress more beautiful then anyone else at the ball and a coach with coachmen and horses that are her friends.
The fairy godmother and the bird are both very important to Cinderella. They both serve as a guide for her. As the fairy godmother said in the movie Make your dreams come true. In everyday life people hope that they have a fairy godmother or an angel that watches over them. Fairy godmothers are there to grant any wish. The bird symbolizes her mother. Her mother told her that she would always be there for her and watch over her and that is what the bird does. The bird gives her anything she wants just as the Grimm brother's make it seem her mother would if she was still alive.
The Brothers Grimm wrote about how her father was still around for Cinderella's growing up. After he married Cinderella's stepmother it was like she brainwashed him in to believing that his daughter was no longer important or part of the family. When the prince was asking
