Humor: Bad drivers

There are times when some people shouldn't be allowed behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. If they want to sit in their driveways and make car noises and pretend to drive that is fine, but don't hand them the keys. For whatever reason, there are days that people are just not able to function well enough to drive. Consider the following driving situation:

A man is gassing up his vehicle in the evening hours. It has become dark. He pays at the pump and then gets back into the warm vehicle from the cold January night. He starts the car. He makes sure that the heat is turned up. He adjusts the radio station and volume. He puts the car in drive and starts out. As he is leaving the parking lot he darts out in front of another driver. That person flashes their lights at him. Not really the response he had anticipated. When he reaches the place where the drive for the gas station meets the street he realizes that he has forgotten to turn on his headlights. Now the flashing of the lights he experienced just moments ago makes sense to him.

He checks the oncoming traffic. He wants to turn left onto the street so he makes sure to check both directions for cars. The only cars he sees are coming from his left. They don't appear to be moving too terribly fast so he decides he can make it across those two lanes and into the lane he wants to be in before they get there.

He starts out. After making it nearly across the first lane he realizes that turning left is impossible because there is a median directly in front of him. Because of the angle of his car he is not able to quickly turn to the right to get away from the oncoming cars. He has no place to go. His only option is to continue to turn to the left.

As he turns to the left, he looks up again to see distance between himself and the other vehicles. The distance has shortened significantly. No doubt the people driving those car have also assessed the situation and are trying to remember where their insurance cards are. The driver of the car at fault catches a glimpse of his passenger. The passenger is wide-eyed, pale and appears to either be praying or losing consciousness.

But the driver who has turned the wrong way into oncoming traffic remains calm. He is quickly considering his options. One, he could get in the middle of the two lanes and hope the drivers of the two oncoming cars both get over to let him through. Two, he can try to jump the median and make it to his proper lane. Three, he can hit the brakes and
