Requiescant in Pace
The sun sank in the sky,
bleeding on black-jagged firred peaks:
bleeding on tombstones,
weathered by relentless presents.
Snow-dusted iron-wrought gates, stone walls,
falling snowflakes insulated these graves
from mortal cares, creating a peace
not found outside its walls.
I ambled its worn dirt paths
seeing the old anguish as mother, father,
husband, wife laid to rest their loved ones.
Yet, peace prevailed
as I walked out still living.
