TRUST
A tiny hand thrust deep in mine,
Eyes upturned; trusting eyes, that shine
With tiny tears I brush away
And kiss, and tell, The world's okay.
And this, this tiny pain that's real,
Means nothing to the hope you feel
Each time you venture toward the new.
The world is safe, I promise you.

Of cookies that don't have to burn.
Don't worry. You'll catch on. You'll learn.
Just rest your little hand in mine
And everything will turn out fine.
My eyes do not look straight at you.
My meaning, not my words, are true.
I know the world's a brutal place,
And that, I can't say to your face.
But I, with all my heart, will try
To bring veracity to lie.
