Venturing to the Winter Olympics 2010 this February is an exciting, once in a lifetime adventure but make sure you dress warm. There are ways to stay fashionable in this winter wonderland surrounding Vancouver but functionally of your wardrobe against the frigid weather is a must.
Since many airlines are now charging for luggage or have instilled weight limits, while pulling out items to keep your body temperature intact, you need to consider packing light too. Clothing for the events need not be a costly mission and much thought is necessary when planning your winter wardrobe to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. It is a matter of coordinating.
Since some events are indoors and others outdoors, you need to transfer your ensemble between warm and cold temperatures and more layers will be required. With a few key pieces, you can have a variety of looks that takes you from event to event, keeps you warm and stylish too.
Upper Body
Have the flexibility of staying warm out of doors, and the heat from a blazing fireplace or air ducts on the inside. The best fashion sense is layering your upper portion. Cardigans and pullovers are versatile, and come in a variety of materials, so you can dress them up or down with accessories and shoes. Bring along a twin sets, which consist of a cardigan and a matching long sleeve shirt. If it gets too warm, just remove the cardigan and you will be contented.
Another option to consider is bringing along a blazer if cardigans are not your style. Throwing a blazer on top of a plain long-sleeved shirt or sweater, will dress you up and keep you warm besides.
Lower Body
Two pairs of slacks in neutral colors, such as black and brown that are made of a natural and heavier material should be sufficent. If the temps have a sudden drop, add tights or leggings underneath. No one will even know you have them on, and you'll be a toasty and comfortable spectator. If you are planning on viewing most of the events of the Olympics outdoors, then you should invest in a pair of outerwear pants that are designed to trap warm, dry air and helps insulates the body against heat loss and prevents hyperthermia.
Footwear
If you do not already own a pair are waterproof boots of good quality, investment in them. They can be used not only during your visit to the Vancouver games but are so practical for every winter afterwards. Consider that you may be walking in icy and snowy conditions, so obtain a pair that is sturdy as well as having good traction on the bottom sole.
Outerwear
Make sure your jacket is water-repellent, which will help you stay dry. All you have to do is to shake or brush off any ice, snow or water drops. Another reason to brush off moisture is that it acts as a barrier that keeps your clothes from breathing.
Accessories
The main key to change your look and be functional against the elements without overspending is with winter accessories. Add some pizzazz to have you stand out from the crowd by adding a scarf to your outerwear and keep your neck warm at the same time. Winter hats come out every season in different styles and colors.
