The elderly past seventy usually are affected badly by the weather-they swelter in the heat of summer and freeze like popsicles during the winter. Along the way, during both extremes of winter, they suffer terrible aliments and viral and bacterial infections. Yes, heat depresses the immune system too. Any shock of weather can lower immune system effectiveness. But it hits the elderly particularly hard during the winter months with the seasonal flus.
