Poetry: The masks we wear

by Zina Fuller

Created on: November 24, 2009

Cover precariousness for you don't want it seen.
Cover your wavering indecision,
which haunts you to the extreme.
You are skeptical, which block your progress.
You think you are hiding these things but your eyes tell it best.
Restrictive with self doubt
Usefulness, is what you seek out.
Livid you pretend not to be
The mask is still on but your eyes have explained it all, and now we see.
Your smiles won't make things less severe.
Condemn all those self doubts and come over here.
To take, the mask off ,because your eyes have sold you out.
Please don't feel debunked.
That mask has belonged to each and everyone of us, not just y-o-u!
