There are times man almost appears to agree with the Lord. We love tradition and we assume they are consistent with biblical truth. We love to go on our own time. We always seem to run to destruction and tailgate the trends of the world. Always seem to slip away from the tried and true. That's what reluctant, stubborn and rebellious people with dissenting biblical views that hate concessions and rectification do. We seem to forget the rosy scenarios of worldly convenience and pleasures of men are understood inconveniences and displeasures to God.
As it relates to Christmas, we believe because everybody celebrates a certain way suggests a cause for reason and attest to merit-affirmation and legitimacy. We love this time of year for another reason: It lets us be irresponsible. It's swept under the rug. Irresponsibility is called something else. It's called what ever you want to call it as long as you don't say something is wrong with it. You see, we get the big eyes, even though we can't afford to. So we pass the burden of purchasing our goods or services on to someone else. You see, we go from cost conscious to counting other people's money, to spending other people's money. We forget cash-in-hand is never bad, can't afford it, don't buy it. Sometimes we can't put our own wants aside. Sometimes we even dig deep into our own pockets to reward ourselves with pennies saved for tough times. We spend every penny and more. You see this is special-interest. We forget about our never shrinking debt. We totally ignore we're supposed to be paying off debt, so we continue to spend money we don't have. We forget when we pay bills from behind, it's a lot tougher. But many break the bank for this special time. We simply forget the crumbs and bargains that carried us through all year long weren't that bad. Somehow we forgot the refuge found in the five and 10 cent store of yester year. How could we forget the life-saving value of the second-hand store? Because of forgetfulness, the poor get poorer.
This is the way so many celebrate Christmas, but this ain't Christmas, it's something else. Most of the world celebrates its rival: that marketing juggernaut called X-mas. On paper, they are identical and considered one and the same. But X-mas is a tradeoff, an appalling, elaborate universal practice of dazzling decorations, expensive shopping sprees most of us can't afford and the exchange of gifts, which distort the reason for the season. And let us not forget that legalized drug
