The entire reason our ancestors came to the United States was for freedom and one of those freedoms was to escape the taxes. Does anyone study history anymore? Do you remember the Boston Tea Party? I wonder if our politicians know what our founding father's were all about. Our ancestors cried "no taxation without representation". They were not only upset they were having their money taken, but upset on how it was being spent and not knowing how it was being spent. Does this sound familiar?

Now here we are again hundreds of years later with the same problems. The government attempting to control our country and not doing a very good job of it. They are taking our money and looking for new ways to take our money. Unfortunately government has become corrupt once again with politicians getting fat on our hard earned dollars. People toiling over hot grills, working in sewage, and defending our country while politicians sit behind their desks writing essays in their fancy suits and dresses.

It doesn't seem fair but we let it happen. Until taxpayers become more involved in what is going on we will continue to see new taxes on internet and whatever else they decide to tax. Will they put a tax on our children? What other ridiculous tax can congress come up with?

While I understand the need for taxes, it seems they have gotten out of control. I realize that if we don't have someone in charge of fixing our roads, providing public schools, and other government programs that many people would sit around and let the world fall down around them without a care. So taxes and government programs do provide our country with structure.

It seems they could find a more simplistic way of taxing us. Someone once told me it would seem more fair to place the income tax on the products we purchase instead of taking it out of our paycheck. Then we'd all just be paying additional sales taxes. This does make sense to me and I'm sure many will disagree. If you think of it though it would do away with big business loopholes and provide a more fair tax. If you don't have the money to purchase a Beamer or Rolls Royce then you aren't going to pay that high tax. The poorer people would pay only for what they could afford and the rich would get stuck paying their fair share because it would be based upon how much you spend.

I guess I've gotten a little off topic here, but it really upsets me as I'm sure it upsets you that we continue to pay more and more tax while it seems like the rich people keep finding those loopholes. Recently on the news they were complaining about a phone tax that we've all been paying that has cost the government taxpayers $400 per hour. It turns out this was government waste at it's best. The government was being scammed by a big business. That money is gone, none of us will get it back. We not only need to be aware of how much tax we are paying but how it is being spent. It's our money, pay attention, get involved, and maybe you won't be paying so much tax.
