What is true love? Is it something you can capture in a moment when your eyes meet and lock, suddenly your heart beats a mile a minute and you just know that this is "the one"? Is it when someone goes totally out of their way to impress you until they finally get your attention? Maybe "the one" proposed marriage by a banner in the sky or a neon sign at a football game and you lived "happily ever after". The "happily ever after" part is where the problems begin.

True love is built out of love and respect. As years pass and events unfold, lives change and interchange. True love is built on how both parties choose to handle life's situations and how they work together to get through them to the benefit of both people. If true love is to last forever, both people in a relationship must be kept content and happy, at least most of the time. If the love is really true, the parties involved do not mind giving in and giving up on some things to be able to get other things they want.

Life is a constantly changing cycle. For true love to last forever, people must make adjustments to their attitude and put selfishness on the back burner. Respect someone in the areas where it is most important. For instance, when one is truly passionate about something, support them in it. Have a positive outlook, help them to accomplish what they want to do, and when the time comes and you want the same support, you will have it. This builds a true love that will last forever.

Forever love is just like Rome; it wasn't built in a day. All couples will experience hard times in their lives, weather it be money problems, sickness, family problems, or anything else that can and probably will, happen. The key to love lasting forever is how you decide to handle the problems together. Communication is key here, and taking the time to discuss the best way to approach the situation will almost always bring the best solution as long as both parties are being reasonable. If you desire your true love to last forever, you must be able to prove that is what you want by being willing to talk things out until a reasonable solution is reached. Being strong willed or not really listening and taking into account what the other person is saying, will lead to hurt feelings and no solution being reached. You MUST truly take into consideration the points the other person is trying to make. Actually imagine yourself in their place to try and understand why they want this particular situation to go their way.

Forever love shares life and everything in it. The most essential key to a love that lasts forever is to make your partner feel loved. We feel loved when our partner is happy with us. Talk about the things that are important in your lives, and work them out together so that both people are happy. Trust your partner to make smart decisions and be willing to support them even if you don't agree. Remember, you are both consenting adults of equal value and part of respect is allowing room for failure's as well as being able to rejoice in the successes. The combination of all this and time is a no-fail recipe for true love that will last forever!
