Why do people stay single longer these days? Being in a relationship might be important to some people, but it is far less the norm these days. Relationships serve different purposes, and relationships tend to be something that a lot of people have trouble keeping, or seeing the value of. Relationships are difficult things to say the least and you never know how they are going to end up. There are so many reasons why people decide to stay single.
Being single might be more appealing these days. With the amount of traveling and odd work hours that most people have to keep, it might not be wise to have a relationship. It might just be easier to just focus on your working life as opposed to having to juggle work and a relationship right away. It isn't uncommon for some to work 60-70 hours a week or more, so where do you have time for a relationship?
A relationship is a lot of work to undertake even in the best of times. In the worst of times, it can be a stressful endeavor that you really don't want to be in. It takes a lot of strength and resolve to be with someone no matter what happens to them or you. It is easy to be in love with someone one minute, and then not feel anything for them the next. That confusion might just be too much for some to want to bother with.
Before you enter into a relationship, you really have to have your own life straight first. This goes back to having a career to pursue, but it also includes knowing what you want. Do you really want a relationship? Are you willing to put in the time that it takes to really have a relationship, or are you just into it because you have an attraction?
In our culture today, it can take a long time to have that direction, and be sure of what you really want. It could be that you really don't know what you want until you are 40. Sometimes you just don't have the time and energy to devote to someone, or maybe you haven't met that person who is going to be the one who you are going to want to be with for a long period of time.
People don't stay single longer because we don't love our fellow man, or that we don't want to deal with people. It is just harder in our world today to have a relationship that can stand the test of time. There is so much to take us away from where we are in a heartbeat, and then what do you do if you are with someone? It takes a lot for a relationship to survive, and sometimes those elements aren't in place.
