Looking for hottest in car racing video games this Christmas 2009 shopping season? You might be hard pressed to decide what's really hot and what's not so hot. Any true racing car video game player, respectfully under the age of 13, will tell you that racing around the track and tearing up obstacles while gathering and endless stream of points isn't just the same anymore.

The reason for the angst among car racing fans is the Nintendo Wii. The Wii has what most other PC and Box and Players don't have: enhanced interactivity. Being able to move, jump, twist, skid and turn while behind the Nintendo Wii wheel is as close to real world go-Kart driving as it gets. Let's leave racing cars to the big boys, as they like their games fast & furious, while the go-Kart players like car racing just plain fun.

After carefully researching Amazon's list of 100 best selling video games, ranked by popularity, only three car racing video games made the cut so far this year, and two of those are the ever popular Mario Kart series. You might be surprised with the results, so read on.

The recent introduction of the Wii has changed how we play video games forever. The Wii provide the best interactive game playing available on the market. Because playing video games with real-live like equipment, such as a real steering wheel for Kart racing, it only makes sense to include the Official Nintendo Wii Wheel on the list.

Also making the top three list is the Nintendo DS version of Mario Kart. The Nintendo DS has been a favorite handheld game playing device ever since it came out. One of the most enduring games played by countless numbers of youngsters has been Mario Kart, which explains why it is really Number 2 on the list.

Down in the list, but not out, is Microsoft's Forza Motorsport 3. This is truly a great game with stunning graphics and effects, especially played on a top end machine. Microsoft is no slouch in this category and the release of Windows 7 tells us that something new is on the horizon.

So, it appears that in the end, there are only two car racing video games in the top 100 list, if discount the Nintendo DS. How about that, racing fans?

It's possible the other video games will make the top 100 list of video games, especially if new versions are released for the Nintendo Wii. If you can wait for these new releases, you might find an unexpected surprise in the video game racing category.
