TOOLS OF THE TRADE OF TEACHING

It is essential to generate into the young humans the techniques required to accomplish reading ability. There are steps that start this plan and can be practiced diligently for successful reading results.

1. Students must get a real memorization of the alphabet.

2. After they say those letters in order, there is another step. Singing the song helps, A, B, C etc. Next time will you sing with me?

3. Sometimes even children can find a means to look for alphabet in many clever ways. Hey, stated a traveling young one, we do a game, as we ride, each person must find the next letter of the alphabet, A, B, C, etc, on a license tag seen or a poster or anywhere.

4. Then it is important to separate the letters, in vowels, A, E, I, O, U and, (sometimes Y) versus the consonants, all the other letters.

5. For vowels, it is important to know that words MUST have a vowel. The song goes, Every true word has a vowel AEIOU. Some vowels make two sounds, This is a set up method to begin to read.

6. Sounds are important to begin. So an activity daily can be to list sounds to students and have them write on a numbered paper the letters that make those sounds.

7. Little flash cards of the letters, or color pieces of letters are a way to maintain the combination and is playful for students.

8. Then it is good to practice daily with sounds and how words are formed. Work sheets can start with color words, red, blue, etc. These are joyful for students to figure out and use to produce a tint and memorize color words.

9. Also, there are very good sheets that work with an audio tool of tape or CD with directions on how to follow through the work sheet marking the items of reading it states.

10. The letters should be held up in at least three cards to produce a word. Then other words will add to the first word and the effort to create a sentence is the goal at this time.

11. Many times such playoffs as BINGO, can be used to solve the answer, first with just pictures for answers, then short words, then more difficult items to recognize.

12. Writing becomes an important task of lending to better reading ability. It can be simple three letter words that do create at least a short sentence.

13. Spelling words are necessary weekly, and a quiz will determine the aptitude to sound out the particular letters and their combination into words.

14. There are term requirements to do testing of students in time periods to establish and work on their achievements in reading. These exams announce certain areas of necessary skills to work on and the accomplishment of other skills for reading and writing.

15. Of course in this era of technology, most young ones use computers. Programs can be purchased that test skills of learning reading. Also, searching for particular locations online have areas where doing steps to better academically train are available.

16. Older students in an upper grade, usually fifth graders can come and lend to the younger grade, to do one on one talents of reading. This is an area positive to both the younger and older child.

In summary, the pattern stated can be effective and used in the manner told or similarly to result in students who become common everyday readers.
