Treasured memories of when my child was a baby

The most treasured memory is the one when I saw for the first time this little creature that grew inside me for 38 weeks. I had an emergency C-section, and I saw him only while the nurses were cleaning him, and measuring and getting him dressed. I asked to see him closer but the doctor would't allow it because he was afraid I was going to start crying and my anesthesia would wear out faster.

The second best memory is when I held him in my arms for the first time. It was two days after I gave birth, because I had some problems and I wasn't allowed to move. I remember so clearly the excitement and the moment the nurse put him in my arms. He was so tiny and his eyes were closed and I was just standing there looking at him. I remember one of the other mothers asking me "aren't you going to kiss him?". I was so fascinated by his little, peaceful face that I forgot about anything else. For a few moments it felt like we were the only people on Earth and no one could disturb us. I spent only 30 minutes with him (hospital policy) and I don't know when the time flew.

Of course there are all the first from his first year: his first smile, at 5 days, his first real tear, at ten weeks, his first tooth, at eight months, his first steps on his own, at eleven months. All this memories have a special place in my heart. But the ones I cherish the most are the funny things he did all day long. He was and still is restless. He liked to take out the stuff from lower drawers and get into them and eat biscuits or cereals. He used to open the door to the dressing, get in there and then close the door after him.

I remember how he used to laugh until tears came to his eyes and his tummy hurt. I remember how he used to climb on top of me and expecting me to make something funny, so that he could laugh a little more. I remember how quiet he used to stay when I read him from "Peter Pan". I remember everything and I treasure each day spent with him.

He is still a baby so I have time to make a lot more of memories, but the greatest ones of all are the first two.
