Ah, the joys of owning your own home. Of course, owning a home comes with a very large price tag in many cases. Maintenance, energy costs, and property taxes are all things that most people would like to reduce. However, there are alternatives to expensive housing. In this article, I will discuss three of these alternatives.
Do you really need a large home? If you're tired of buying large houses, or you just want to save money, tiny houses could be for you. These houses come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Tiny houses can be really small, but they don't have to be. There are a variety of floor plans for the buyer to choose from, so I'm sure there's one that fits your needs.
Tiny houses range in price, depending on the size you choose from and how far it needs to be shipped. Usually, the price tag(minus shipping) seems to be under fifty thousand dollars for most models. Due to the small size of a tiny home, you will also save money on maintenance and electricity. That's always nice to know.
Another alternative to traditional housing is the dome home. Like tiny houses, the dome home is also cheaper than most traditional houses. The dome home also boasts lower energy costs because of it's unique design. Unlike the tiny house, if you want a larger home minus the cost then the dome home could be for you.
Unless you dislike the fact that it's in the shape of a dome. Personally, I like how the dome home looks. As for the specific amount of money you will pay, many of the dome homes can be found to cost between twenty and a hundred thousand dollars. Again, there are various floor plans that you can choose from.
Finally, there is the traditional mobile home. I have personal experience with this type of home. I lived in a double wide mobile home for about ten years. They range in sizes and the cost varies depending on the size and type. The one that I lived in cost about forty thousand dollars.
Overall, the mobile home I lived in held up very well over the years. There was basic maintenance, but nothing extravagant cost wise. Just don't expect them to stand up to a tornado or something like that. As for energy costs, you might save money if it's a small mobile home but not on a big one. Unfortunately, unlike traditional housing, mobile homes tend to depreciate in value.
In conclusion, tiny houses, dome homes, and mobile homes are all alternatives to traditional housing that can save you money. So now you can finally afford that dream home you have always wanted. Enjoy.
