Understanding your Helium Earning and Payment page

by Cody Hodge

Created on: November 19, 2009

Helium is a great place to get yourself noticed as a writer. Helium is also a great place to come gain some extra cash while you get your career going. However, when you go to your Earnings page, how do you know what all those columns mean? It can be confusing at first, but once you understand what is going on with your page, you can start to understand how you are getting paid, and when you get paid.

The first column is your total earnings. This will tell you how much money you have made throughout the year up to that date, minus anything that you have requested and have yet to be paid. For example if you have 4,000 dollars on that column, but you still have 700 dollars to request as a payment, you have made 4,700, but only 4,000 has actually been paid to you. This includes any money from page views, Marketplace, or upfront payments.

The adjustments column takes into account anything that have earned that has nothing to do with page views. This number used to be smaller before the upfront payments, but now can be pretty much your entire earnings. This column includes upfront payments, stock purchases, and empty title bonuses that you are paid.

The total amount paid to you indicates how much money Helium has paid to you. This also doesn't include payments that have been requested yet. Basically this just includes money that you have been paid so far, and the total earnings is everything that you have made at Helium for all the time that you have been here, and that includes page views.

The request payment is how much money you have requested to get paid. Anything over 25 dollars in a month makes you eligible for a payment request. The requests can be made up until the 4th day of the month, and will be paid by the 10th of the month.

The total invite earnings show you how much you have made from writers that you have invited. If you have invited a writer, you will make a percentage of the money that they earn as a little bonus for inviting a new writer to Helium.

If you still have any questions you can always go to the Helium help pages, or ask any writer or staff member for further clarification of any of the payment methods. Hopefully this gives you a little understanding though, and can make calculating your payments a little bit easier on you.
