What to take on a camping trip

There is nothing like camping to get upfront and personal with nature but if you haven't camped before you will need a list on what to take on a camping trip. You have many decisions that must be made before you start preparing. Getting ready for camping will depend on who is going , what type of camping you'll be doing, how long your going for and what you'll need while you are there. Camping can be a bundle of fun for the whole family when everything you need is taken into consideration. So start packing!

Tent camping accessories

This is the usual method of camping unless you happen to be the owner of a mobile home. Tent camping can be the most fun for all the family. Your tent size will depend on how many people are going with you. You also need sleeping bags but if you're headed where the weather is going to be extremely warm you can get by with using blankets. You will also need pillows for everyone that's going.

Depending on how comfy you want to be there are camp cots that fold up to a cartable size, foam that can be rolled up and tied or a blow up mattress. It is a good idea to take a few tarps with you. These can be tied to trees over your tent to give you shade from the sun or keep you dry through a rain shower. You will need to take some type of line to use for a clothes line plus clothes pins. This can solve a lot of problems for wet swimsuits or wet towels.

Cooking and clean up

You will need a variety of pots and pans for cooking especially a frying pan to cook up those yummy breakfasts. If you have a fire pit in your camp spot you will still need to bring something to cook in. If there is no fire pit to cook in then you will need to bring portable propane stove, don't forget to bring lots of propane. Bringing a portable barbecue can be wonderful when camping for cooking those special meals that your family loves.

A few coolers will come in handy for keeping your perishables in and your drinks cool. Unless you want to spend your time doing dishes paper plates is the answer to a dish free weekend. Plastic cutlery is a must and can be thrown away after use. Make sure you take plenty of garbage bags to put them in. don't forget a can opener which must be at the top of the list for forgotten things, also a sharp knife and scissors. Take some barbecue utensils for using the barbecue and lots of paper towel for quick clean ups and serviettes.

Toilet necessities

There are toilet items that you will need on your trip. Not every place you camp have
