Poetry: God

Cruelty, malice, where is love

More than ever God, we need your white dove

Monsters trod upon the earth these days

Fear consumes our thoughts and guides our ways

Make me believe and know you are real

Intervene from above so relief I can feel

Below we are suffering, nothing feels just

Your children are fighting with vengeance and lust

I remember your promise…together we’ll be winners

Memories of hope explode, stopping life from becoming grimmer

Thoughts are now forming of a time long ago

When you whispered, “I’m here when burdens are too heavy to tow”

Perhaps it is I that has moved from your light

And, in the process removed good from my sight

Horrors are viewed by choice in my den

Cruelty is not evidenced in my child’s precious grin

Maybe my health is today’s loving gift

When it’s gone, these written words can help someone who is adrift

Poorly understood is the life of the world

Alone in silence we can endure horrors unfurled

But if faith in God is the choice you make

Hardships will rain alongside comforting tears pouring for your sake
