Darling, waterfalls would cease falling,
Mourning doves would stop calling,
Most joy would be withdrawn,
If you were gone.
The sun would shine less bright,
And o'er the land a blight,
Would spread out upon,
If you were gone.
Children's laughter would cease,
I would find little peace,
Becoming sad and forlorn,
If you were gone.
People's smiles would seem cold,
And the young much too old,
The world sallow and withdrawn,
If you were gone.
A soft, gentle touch,
Would feel abrasive and rough,
Happiness behind me and bygone,
If you were gone.
My darling, my loving wife,
You're my world - my whole life,
And there would be no more dawns,
If you were gone.

Poetry: If you were gone
You Without Me
Oh what can it be
When I see you without me
The uneasiness of it all
And wrestling with my heart
Of being alone
We only met two years ago
But you are a constant in my life
The one thing that keeps me steady
When everything else is full
If you were gone
My life would be so much simpler
No calling to check on you
No going to pick up your mail
No going to pick
While I am here with you,
Close to my heart you will stay.
Never did I imagine
A love so fine.
With you,
My heart sings.
Because
by Helen Stuart
If you were gone
I'd have no reason to listen
For pick-up motors roaring
Into the driveway.
No smell of cigars
On your flannel
