I have two beautiful funny and intelligent daughters. Kayla my tall leggy blond that just does and says what she is thinking. That a little bit of common sense would not hurt. The infectious smile that she has carries beyond our home but into her everyday life at school and friends. She is the eldest of our two girls and she is joy everyday.
Reanna is as opposite of Kayla as night and day she is the smallest of us all and the smartest too. She is a straight A student and logical beyond her years. The freckles on her pale face and the light auburn red hair are a stark contrast to that of her sister. She is goal oriented and active in anything that makes her the least bit curious about. Reanna and Kayla balance each other out in ways that cannot be explained.
Together the two of them keep us as their parents rolling with laughter. To look at the two of them there is not a single resemblence nor is there a single reason for one to stick up for the other. You see these two very different girls have no reason to stand up for the other or like the other. You see they are step sisters and yet if one is hurt the other feels their pain. The close bond the that they share is rare and special.
The old adage" blood is thicker than water " is only true if you allow it to be. Kayla and Reanna are closer than any two sisters that I have ever seen. They have a bond that is so unusual that it amazes me and their Dad. Yes they share a Dad and a Mom.What child belongs to me and what one belongs to my husband doesn't matter in family. We love them both as ours and there is no differences between the two.
In this day and age with divorce and blended families blood being thicker than water is a way of thinking, not a matter of fact. Blood is only platelets and plasma that courses through you veins only slightly thicker than water.Water is a mix of hydrogen and oxygen and is a molecular balance that makes it a liquid. "Blood being thicker than water" is a way of feeling not the facts of the matter for those of us that live it everyday of our lives!
