My Mother was unique. How can identical twins be unique one might ask? She was a survivor. She was born on February 26,1943 and weighed a mere one and a half pounds. A miracle! Twins that lived in those archaic times without the aide of modern medicine! This the story that I had heard as far back as I can really remember. The other stories were just too painful for her to repeat or even meant to remember.
She was beautiful! Beautiful in not only physical appearence but in spirit and a wonderful and giving heart that would allow her to help those in need. She was a common everyday person that affected the lives in tiny ways everyday. To think that a woman that survived the horrors of abuse and molestation could give so much to others. The fact that she lived at all with such a rough start remains a miracle.
She was Karen Rachel Algire Morris Mother of three stubborn and head strong girls that loved her and hated her their entire lives!Loved her for the Mother that she was and hated her for the discipline she used to keep them in line.We learned as adults that she disciplined because she love us and the hate faded away. The arguments that we had and the tears that we shared were great and moving.
Her life was too short and all of my memories of her have impacted me in such a way that there has been a huge void in my since April 07,2009 when she died more quickly than my sister and I had expected from the disease that racked her frail looking body. The shock of losing her has yet to completely fade away. There's not not day that goes by that my heart doesn't ache with the resounding memory of her easy laugh and her even easier tears.
My life is full of happiness, tears, laughter, joy and fun not just one moment stands out alone. Her presence was powerful and for such a tiny little woman standing only five foot three inches that is saying alot. She lit up the room as walked in and took the light when she left. Her light is gone and will never be able to be replaced as her light has went with her when she joined Daddy ,Gina and her infant son in heaven. The light that we will miss forever. At sixty-six her light is forever dim. I miss you Mommy and I do everyday!
