On a cold, dark Midwinter's night, a quiet man and his gentle wife traveled far from home and friends to be turned away without a thought by strangers.

Do you know why...do you know why strangers made that couple cry?
On a cold, dark midwinter's night, shepherds woke to an awesome sight. Choirs of angels, bold and bright, sang to them of Emmanuel, their savior.
Do you know why...do you know why the angels came to earth that night?
Do you know why...do you know why shepherds bowed down at the sight?

Do you know why...do you know why the star appeared on that dark night?
Do you know why...do you know why the wise men followed its fair light?
On a cold dark midwinter's night, a tiny baby entered this world. His teenage mother, frightened and tired, laid him to sleep, silently, in a manger.
Do you know why...do you know why he came to earth to dwell that night
Do you know why...do you know why that tiny baby came to die?
On a cold, dark midwinter's night, this weary world received the gift of life.
