Should you be friends with someone before you start dating? I think when it really comes down to it there is no right or wrong answer to this question. It doesn't really matter as long as you found someone to love, but since we are talking about this subject I think that it can be argued both ways but it's not the thing that's most important, what's important is that you find someone who cares about you, and likes you for being the person you really are.

Not someone you have to pretend to be just so you seem like you are interesting. The person you are dating should be interested in you and your interests. Becoming friends before you start the dating process can be useful but it is not a necessity but I think that it does help. I believe that it makes it a lot easier if you become friends before you start dating because it takes most or at least some of the guess work out of it.

For example: if you are friends first you know or at least have an idea of their likes, their dislikes, their future goals, their hobbies, their interests, etc. My husband and I met when we were in High School about the 11th grade we were both in JROTC and on the JROTC Drill Teams. During our senior year we were both Commanders of the JROTC drill teams, him commanding the Armed Drill Team and me commanding the Fac Simile Drill Team, we also had a couple of classes together so we spent a lot of time together both during the school day and also after school even sometimes on the weekends when it came close to competitions. We started to become really good friends and then we felt it, the spark we started falling for each other, and we fell for each other hard. I believe that when you are friends first it also makes it less awkward in the beginning because you are more comfortable with the person when you just meet a person and start dating.

There are some special cases that when you meet someone and you feel the spark right away, it's automatic and that is perfectly fine. When it comes down to it I don't think it really matters as long as you find someone who cares about you I think that is all that matters.
