Every year there is a hot, hard-to-find toy of the season that every child seems to want and this year it seems to be the Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters.

If you have not heard of them yet, Zhu Zhu (pronounced Zoo Zoo) Pets Hamsters are adorable little hamsters that look and act like the real thing, but without all the messy
clean-up.

They have soft pet-able fur and do everything from making soothing cooing sounds when affectionate to running around and exploring when switched to the exploration mode. There are 4 different hamsters to choose from and they each come with a different personality. There are also a bunch of playsets available that your Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters can run and climb through including a hamster wheel, hamster ball, a surfboard and even a little car. Just like in years past with other hot toys, these Zhu Zhu hamsters can be hard to come by. It is a couple of months before the holidays and already they are sold out. Just because it is difficult however, does not mean it is impossible. Here are some things you can try to get your hands on these adorable, yet elusive hamsters.

Spread The Word

One of the best ways to get a Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster at the best price possible is to simply tell everyone you know that you are looking for them. Anytime that someone mentions they are shopping at a potential Zhu Zhu store such as Walmart, Target, ToysRUs or Kmart ask them to take a quick look in the toy aisle. Eventually you are bound to get lucky that someone will be in the right place at the right time.

Call The Stores Often

Most people shy away from calling stores because they are afraid they will be laughed at for even asking if the store has the hard to find item of the year available. This does not mean however that you shouldn't call each one to find out if they have any idea when the next shipment is coming in.

Quite often stores will get a heads up to prepare their employees or will get a notice from the company that the shipment is on the way, so be sure to call. Also remember when one store in the area gets a shipment, quite often other stores in the same area will as well. So if
Walmart sells out on the first day, think about heading over to your local Target, Kmart of Toys R Us because they might have received some as well.
