Flu symptoms

Created on: November 18, 2009

Here are some symptoms of the common flu. First and foremost there are body aches, and I don't mean just some slight discomfort I mean a truck ran you over body aches. One of my friends is a bodybuilder and semi pro football player. He is one of the toughest guys I know and he was posting on Facebook the other day how sore his body is from the flu.

The body aches are caused from anywhere to a low grade fever to a could cook eggs on your forehead fever. The best thing you can do to keep this fever from going up is chug water. Whenever I run a fever I drink a twenty ounce bottle of water every half hour and it usually keeps the fever down. Drinking water also filters out your body, it's the same principle as drinking alcohol and making your blood alcohol level go up but with water instead. You are diluting the sickness.

Fevers tend to take a lot of energy from people since the extra calories are being burnt from the fever. When you have the flu you may feel fatigued. There is nothing wrong with spending the day in bed and sleeping. Who doesn't need a few extra hours of sleep these days anyway?

Another sign that you are running a fever is the chills. Most of us have had those days where we know it's not cold enough for a sweater or a blanket but the goose bumps on our body say otherwise. If you have the chills chances are you have a fever and you need to get in bed cover up and go to sleep.

Your sinuses may feel like they are going to explode or won't stop dripping. The sinuses always seem to get messed with no matter what you have be it cold or flu. Nevertheless this is a symptom that comes with the flu, it does not mean you have the flu though.

A sore throat and headache also come along with the flu. These are side effects of the sinus issues. The headache can be caused by the clogged sinuses or the fever and the sore throat can also be caused by dehydration, coughing or sinus discharge. All of these symptoms plus more can be symptoms of the flu, however I would suggest that you visit a doctor and be tested to find out for sure. You don't want to misdiagnose yourself. I hope you all feel better.
