WRITING AT HELIUM: HELPFUL TIPS FOR NEW HELIUM WRITERS
Anyone who is keen on writing articles will not find a better site than Helium.com. I know because I have been a writer for many years and have looked at all of the sites on the internet. Some of them charge you to be a member, Helium does not. Helium is also easy to understand and geared to amateurs as well as professionals. Here are my tips for new writers to Helium.
1. Read the site carefully before you begin and make sure you get a mentor to help you. Always look up any tips or queries as you come across them with your mentor and/or in the Help section. Everything you could possibly need to know about this site is there, but it does take a bit of getting used to to find and retain that information. Make a point of mastering the site itself before you begin writing.
2. Choose a good pen name, either your real name or a name that sounds grown un and believable. When I see names like THEGREATONE I know I am reading something written by someone very immature with a very big ego who is probably not very good at writing anyway! A name like JUNE PARSONS might sound quite ordinary but your articles are what should be catching people's attention and you should not need to wrap your articles in frills with hundreds and thousands, they should be able to stand on their own two feet.
3. Decide if you wish to begin with a serious article about something you are knowledgeable about or prefer to put your toe in the water by writing a poem or humorous piece. If you are in a serious mood then it is probably best to write something that reflects that mood or wait till you feel light hearted enough to write something that is humorous. I suggest you write about topics that you have knowledge on and preferably that you are properly qualified in and a professional on. I know that if I wanted to know about investing money or buying a house I would much prefer to read the insight of someone who has bought houses or sells houses than someone who is just guessing or has only bought or sold one.
4. Work out a schedule of when you will write and not write and then stick to it. If you are a very busy person and work full-time already then you might decide to only write a few articles a week. But whatever you decide by working it out in advance you have a goal and it is far easier to stick to that than to play it by ear. When we play such things by ear we fall into the trap of putting it off till tomorrow or next week.... which never comes! Think about how much you wish to earn and how much you need the money. If you want Helium.com to provide you with a high regular income then you must be realistic and put a lot of energy and time into it before that can happen.
