Facebook is the fastest growing social networking site on the world wide web today. Originally developed as a social site for college alumn to keep in touch, it has been opened up to the general internet population, the only requirement being that you be a minimum of thirteen years old to access the site.
Facebook is an excellent way to keep in touch with family members literally around the world. If you have a child away at college, a family member in the military stationed overseas, or just want to see where old friends have disappeared to, Facebook is a wonderful tool for communicating live with those whom we may not otherwise be able to touch base with on a regular basis.
A "Facebook Wall" is your personal space on the site. When you become a member of Facebook, you have, as with many other sites, a "Profile Page". Your profile page includes, but is not limited to tabs for "Wall", "Info", "Photos", "Notes" and other assorted tabs you may choose to ad as you become a more experienced "Facebooker".
Your "Facebook Wall" is where you can post "What's On Your Mind", a blurb you write that can be anything you wish, a random thought, a quote, what you are currently doing, feeling or experiencing, a joke or a link to an item of interest. This post will then appear on your :"Wall" where it is visible to your friends and they can comment on it if they so choose and you may respond to their comments as well.
Whenever you partake in an activity in a "Facebook Application" such as a game or a quiz, your "Facebook Wall" will also automatically display that activity so that your friends can see what you are doing while on the site. There are privacy settings and prompts that allow you to choose to "skip" posting these activities to your "Wall" for public view if you so choose, but unless you opt out of allowing applications to post your current activity, it will automatically appear on your "Facebook Wall".
Your "Facebook Wall" is like your "home" on Facebook. You have total control over it. You can add or delete whatever you wish to your wall. Friends may visit your profile and view your wall to see what you are up to and they are able to post messages to your "Wall" while you are actively on the site or away.
To some, the "Facebook Wall" can become a much needed social interaction with friends, family and acquaintances and can be used as a true tool of personal expression, it is entirely up to the individual user as to how they project themselves on their "Facebook Wall".
