Facebook is the fastest growing social networking site on the internet today. At one time it was used primarily by college students who wished to keep connected.with current and former classmates, but over the past year Facebook has expanded it's target audience to include everyone over the age of thirteen.
Members are able to post pictures, notes, random thoughts and participate in a variety of role playing games and quiz applications ad infinitum. It is a very active and well-populated site, appealing to people of all ages.
Since Facebook has opened it's arms to be inclusive of society in general, parents, grandparents, teeny-boppers, business people, writers, artists and musicians have all flooded onto the once collegiate site.
Common interests and shared hobbies frequently lead members to add unknown people as friends, as do suggestions from members that one truly does know, the "friends of friends" so to speak. Participating in any of the various role playing games that are available on the site also lead members to add other players as friends, who they may otherwise have not have included in their Facebook connections.
Adding Facebook members that you have no personal knowledge of can sometimes create a situation where one may wish to remove that particular member from their Facebook friends in order to either prevent that member from having access to their Facebook information and activity, or to prevent viewing the activity and postings of said member. At times, one may also wish to remove a Facebook friend that one does actually know personally for privacy or other reasons. Regardless of why one may wish to remove a "friend" from Facebook, the process is easy enough.
Click on the member name of the friend that you wish to remove and you will access their profile page. Scroll down to the bottom left corner of their profile page and click "Remove from Friends". Facebook will ask you if your are sure that you wish to remove this member from your Facebook Friends and you choose between a box that confirms the removal of the Friend or cancels the removal. It's that simple.
Once the member has been removed as a Friend, they will no longer have access to your profile information, but will revert back to access as set in your overall privacy settings for your account. If you have mutual friends that you interact with on Facebook, they will still be able to interact with you on the mutual friend's page, but will not have direct access to your profile or your newsfeed.
