Testimonies: Visiting a medium for a reading

There are those who seek spiritual enlightenment, and those who simply need an answer.

Who these people choose to speak to, is their choice. They may seek help beyond friends, family, or even the best psychiatrist in the city. Psychics and mediums, though different on some levels, both have common goals; to help the confused and comfort the lonely.

When contacted in response to what they think the difference is between them; it soon became clear that there is none.

Yes there is a difference between an empath and a medium. What I do is not only medium but I also feel others feelings. It is hard to explain. My readings usually end up with a spiritual message and/or visitation, said psychic Tara Night who has been giving readings for 17 years. Night is currently on tour promoting healing rituals, mostly working within the U.S. and Canada.

Sometimes I hear a message from the spirit world and then I will relay it to the person, said Jenn Pullen, another psychic within Ontario. I also work in health care, palliative care and found it to be spiritual work, helping folks die with dignity. Pullen started doing readings at only 15 years old, mostly with family members. My mother is also a reader and her mother and her mother. I have a daughter who is starting to read as well, said Pullen.

Always for as long as I can remember I had a strong sixth sense. I still question and I pray to my higher power that the messages I get from the spirit are true and his word. I seek my higher power's guidance constantly, said Trish Rundberg, a psychic from www.apositiveme.com .

Personally, I am an ordained Spiritualist Minister, so my job does entail spiritual/pastoral counsel, while psychics do not, said Carol Burrows, a London spiritual medium. Burrows also believes from her own personal experience, that psychics tend to rely on their ego when giving a reading and mediums trust and recognize a divine source.

A great example would be going to a psychic who has had terrible experiences with relationships, perhaps having multiple spouses or partners. If someone went to them for advice, do you think they are the best ones to give advice on relationship if they are operating from ego? Burrows asks.

Also, a common thread between psychics and respected mediums is that we don't predict death, don't advise divorce as an option and continually try to give information that empowers the client to use their own free will, explains Burrows.
