In 12,000 BC you may have noticed a few floating buildings inaccessible by the team. Rest assured, you actually can reach them - though not until much later.
Once you have the Epoch as a flying machine, take it to 2300 AD and head to the south western portion of the map. You'll find a solitary cave with a single occupant, the Son of Sun, an elemental monster with a tricky attack pattern.
Before you fight it, however, go get some fire protection. The Fire Vest and Mail are ideal for this fight as they'll absorb the majority of Son of Sun's attacks, making the fight rather simple. Lacking that, anything that lowers the effectiveness of fire attacks will work wonders. Only one of the boss's attacks isn't fire-based.
Son of Sun isn't your standard boss. It's surrounded by a ring of five fires, one of which holds its weak point. You need to attack the fires until you hit the proper one, doing damage to Son of Sun in the process. (And no, all-hitting attacks don't work for this. Attack them one by one with normal strikes.) Eventually the boss will shuffle these fires, forcing you to seek out the weak point again. Keep hitting the weak point until Son of Sun crumbles.
Once it does it will turn into the Moon Stone, an item of great power. You won't be able to use the Moon Stone until you turn it into a Sun Stone, however, and that requires eons of exposure to sunlight. Head back to 65,000,000 BC and leave the Moon Stone in the Sun Keep in the top right hand corner of the map.
Return to 2300 AD. You'll discover the stone has been pilfered. Go back to 1000 AD and you'll discover that it's in the possession of the mayor of Porre. He's a greedy man, however, and will deny he has it. You need to change his tune.
Head to the nearby Snail Shop, buy some Beef Jerky and then zip to 600 AD. Visit the mayor's house in Porre and talk to his wife. She'll notice your jerky and offer you money for it. Give it to her for free and she'll laud your generosity, deciding to teach her kids about it from then on. Head back to 1000 AD and this will alter the present mayor, who will gladly hand over the nearly-charged Sun Stone.
Take it back to the Sun Keep and go to 2300 AD with Lucca in your party. She'll drool over the stone's power and take it back to her house, tempering a new weapon for herself, the WonderShot. Her father will also pop in with a new accessory, the Sun Shades, for the party.
