Poetry: What I'm thankful for

by Paula Love

Created on: November 17, 2009

Being broke when there are bills to pay

Family gatherings for the holiday

Friends who so easily betrayed my trust

Pepperoni pizza with a crispy crust

Mistakes I've made in relationships

Laughing with my sisters on vacation trips

Times I didn't heed a warning

Sleeping late on a Saturday morning

Stupid things I've said and done

Warming my skin in the summer sun

Missing my chance to say goodbye

Laughing excessively until I cry

Stuffing my feelings when I'm blue

Hearing my kids say "I love you"

Driving on the highway a bit too fast

Making amends for my selfish past

When you ask me what I'm thankful for

It's all of this and so much more

No matter what this life may bring

I wouldn't go back and change a thing

Everything I have ever seen

Good and bad and all that's between

Both rich and poor contribute to my sum

It all has created the person I've become
