2009-2010 Cleveland Browns team profile

by Bruce Bostwick

Created on: November 17, 2009

The Cleveland Browns really have made themselves look bad this season and it just seems to be getting from bad to worse. The record is a mere reflection on the state of the team and quite honestly, it just shows that some people are not going to be putting forth the effort necessary to improve it. The season started with Brady Quinn and then Derek Anderson came in for some of the season only to have it go back to Brady once again. The problem with the team isn't just Quarterbacks, it's a bunch of players who are not and seems like they are deliberating letting others go out there and attack the Quarterback.

Eric Mangini does not have the respect of the players and if they do indeed lose out and that includes losing to the Detroit Lions and even the Oakland Raiders of all teams, then it would be no shock if he indeed gets released. One of the biggest problems is that when there is no respect between players and a coach and that doesn't mean being best friends, then it will not work out. Maybe it will be time to probably consider a complete clean house and start over yet again. Then again, they haven't gotten it right at all since the team has been brought back.

There is a mess and this season has really shown it big time. It does not matter where they draft, it is going to be about who they draft. As everyone knows, the draft is more of a guess as you never really know what you're going to get until you pick them out. It seems that anymore, that the state is that there is too much dissension from looking at it from the outside looking in. The combination is there and apparently Cleveland could be blacklisted in places that agents are going to tell players to avoid like the plague.

The 2009-10 season is one that many Browns fans are going to want to forget. Just about anything that went wrong with the season did and more. Randy Lerner now has to go out and find somebody to run the team and be the football man. It is going to be interesting on who gets picked because of the thought of possibly getting rid of Eric Mangini whether it he deserves it or not. It wouldn't be the first time a coach got fired after one season and probably won't be the last. Mangini could see his days being numbered especially if they go 1-15 for the season, which would be the worst ever in Browns history and it may make the expansion year look good by comparison.

The assessment of the Browns is that they are this year going to be the punching bag and seem to continue that trend. Until they finally decide to get the right players and right management involved, then it will stay that way with the Browns continuing to be the laughing stock of the league. That could mean even worse than Detroit. It is so bad that you have to wonder if they could beat teams from the UFL the way they play but that's another story for another time.
