Whether you think about it or not, the mood of your house can be affected, and sometimes decided, by your wall colors. However, not many of us have the luxury of painting our walls every time we feel like it. Fortunately, there are a few solutions to the problem of adding color to your home without having to paint the walls.
Accessories are some of the easiest and best ways for you to add color in any room. Try to choose very few accessories, but make sure that those accessories pop. If you have too many accessories in any one room, that room will look cluttered. However, if you use accessories sparingly, you will be able to attract attention without making the room look disorganized.
Bright hues in colors like red, blue, orange, and green will make your accessories pop. The accessories should complement the rest of the room, so that the accessories are not necessarily the centerpieces of the room, but they help to complete the room.
A rug is also a great way to add color to a room. Even if your room has carpet down, you can still put down thin, quality rugs that will help pull all of the accessories together. Try to choose a rug that has at least one of the colors present in the other accessories. That way, the room will look put together.
Drapery is another great accessory that will add lots of color to a room. You can either create your own drapes or have them made. Custom-made drapes are very expensive and are rarely replaced. You should only purchase custom-made drapes if you are able to stay in your home for many years. However, if you are going to sell your house at some point, you may not be able to include the price of the drapes in the selling price. On the other hand, buying mainstream curtains can brighten any room. Roman shades are becoming very popular, and they are easy to install.
Last but not least, you can also add wall accessories. Paintings and pictures add color to a room even when you don't realize it. Remember to put up paintings that are proportional to the size of the room. Do not put up a very large picture frame that dwarfs the wall.
As you can see, adding color to your rooms is as easy as putting up new pictures, adding colorful new accessories, and making sure that your colors are harmonious.
