LEFTOVERS
When one says "leftovers"
Many would say
It brings to mind turkey
From Thanksgiving Day
But why should turkey
Be the high king
Why not some other
Holiday thing?
For the small youngsters
Candy is it
Halloween leftovers
Are a big hit
If you like presents
Then I would say
Christmas Day leftovers
Should have more sway
For fans of fire works
High in the sky
Independence Day leftovers
Are their pumpkin pie
"I like diamond rings"
Is that what you say?
Then you would like leftovers
From your engagement day
Sometimes when we get
To the end of the week
Leftovers from payday
Would give things a tweak
So when you think of leftovers
Keep an open mind
Maybe we all
Need our own favorite kind

The room: white, austere and cold,
Not a pleasant place to be.
And there sitting on the floor,
Two frightened children of three.
While shopping for Thanksgiving's feast,
I spied the most enormous beast,
thirty pounds of meat at least!
I hauled it to

The mushroom garden in my fridge,
Brought on by non-compliance,
Contains a multitude

I had the menu all planned out,
I knew what I was making.
The turkey, stuffed and in the pan,
The pumpkin pies were baking.
Your Leftovers
Another holiday has come and gone.
All the family has packed there bags
And left for the long trip home.
