Oh the wonders of time management and being a freelance writer. Not as glamorous as one might think is it? It's all good when every minute you spend on a piece is rewarded monetarily. That would be what I like to think of as a no-hitter game. Nothing pulling you back. Taking that into consideration, we now need to look at the reality that most writers share. Not all of our talent is rewarded all of time and that stumps the best of us. The best of us is when we write, so settle on that mere point when deciding to becomes a successful writer. You have to factor in a little down time into your time management schedule. I have found a few rewarding approaches to planning and executing enough work to call myself satisfied. I first had to give praise to ever growing opportunities of writing avenues through the internet. The introduction to mobility and production has caused a huge wave of success stories I am slowly learning my way into all of it. I would like to spend a day with Stephen King or Norah Roberts. As I have learned about Norah Roberts, she loves to travel as she writes. She does not have a set daily schedule but when she decides it's time to write she does so full capacity of the time she has. I wonder if she ever writes straight through the night. I have and I don't think a very passionate writer can say that they haven't done it as well.
One simple practice to lining up the numbers on my daily clock has been to prepare myself each day as if I were actually going into an office setting. This makes it easier when you need to pick up your keyboard and hit the library for further research. Working in our pajamas is great and I definitely seize the moments when appropriate. However, I choose to approach my day in the business manner for which I plan to implement my marketable skills. Make a daily exit from your house mandatory.
Do not do all of your research on the net. Go to the library. I have enjoyed traveling other libraries. My grandmother took me to the local library about once every month or so. Monroe NC is about an hour away but I make journey when I feel it is necessary to change the scenery for a few hours of my day. Writing there is very different for me then other places I have created. The library downtown here in the Queen City is enormous. Some days I go just to feel the enormity around me as I search and research and gather tons of written work. I only use my pen and paper when I visit that particular library.
