So, there you are, on a Sunday morning, drinking your favorite blend of coffee and trying to get yourself together from last night's party. What's better than browsing among your favorite Facebook pages, clearing your group invitations, accepting or rejecting the various friend requests and chatting with your loved ones? But suddenly, as your notifications pop up, you notice that you have been tagged in a photo. So, you anxiously wait for the photo to load only to discover yourself being drunk and smokey from last night's party. You desperately want to make the photo go away wishing no one has already woken up to see it. So, what do you do now? Relax, there is a solution! Just keep on reading!
Facebook helps you control any personal info or photo of you giving you a variety of options. Specifically:
1. Remove Tag
Actually, the tag is the one connecting you with the photo so all you have to do is to remove it. Just open the photo and at the bottom of it you will see your name written. Beside your name you will see a 'Remove Tag' link. Click on it and you will no longer be linked to the photo. Of course, that does not mean that the photo is deleted. You just 'killed' the link! So, time for plan B.
2. Request the Photo's Deletion
If you dreadfully need to make the photo disappear, the only thing you can do is to talk to the person who originally posted it. Let them know you really hate the specific photo and want it to be removed. Normally, that would be enough and your wish will be fulfilled.
3. Remove Friend
If the specific Facebook user keeps on posting embarrassing photos of you, all you can do is to delete him from friends making them unable to tag you in any photo. To do so, click on the 'Friends' tab, locate their name and hit on the X button beside their name. Moreover, you can also block the user by visiting the 'Privacy Settings' page. On the 'Block People' section, type their name and hit enter.
As Facebook indicates, the site has no authority to delete photos unless someone posts offending photos of you violating their Terms of Use. If that is the case, you can easily report it by clicking on the 'Report This Photo' tag found on the bottom right corner under each picture. Facebook will review your report and move on to the photo's removal.
Most of the times, asking from your friend to remove the photo will be enough. Just write a nice email explaining yourself and you are done!
