How to write a love letter

by Robert Bruton

Created on: November 16, 2009

The true beauty of a love letter is; you have no right or wrong way to write a love letter. If you are writing from your heart, you will touch the heart of your intended. You don't need the letter to read in anyway special other than words coming from your heart.

Sit down and think of as many things you love about your intended as you can. Simply write on a peace of paper any thoughts you have. Special memories, special things the person does for you, and how this person touches your heart. It can be a look, a feeling, anything that warms your heart. Set it out in notes and decide from that what you wish to share. Anyone on the receiving end of a love letter simply embraces the warmth of your words.

After gathering your thoughts and putting them down in note form. Begin to craft your letter only using the notes as reminders of what you want to say. Don't worry about eloquence, style or the like. Simply write from your heart. Someone receiving a love letter is not going to grade it for style. The simple fact that you took time to write something beautiful and heartfelt is enough.

If you are still having trouble finding words to say. Search the internet for love letters, read poetry and listen to your favorite love songs. Don't plagiarize, meaning don't make the mistake of using a line from a poem or song. If you are writing be sure it's your words. To quote some beautiful line from a movie or song is simply not the same as coming from your heart. Even if what you are saying does not sound as eloquent as a movie line. Your heart will always win out your loved ones heart.

It's ok to run through a few drafts. However, don't keep editing your letter over and over again. Simply write from your heart and don't worry for anything but love to flow through your pen. Don't over analysis what you are writing. The receiver won't care about anything but true words flowing from you to them. Pull out all the stops and speak from your deepest emotions. Letting yourself go and expressing your love is the deepest sentiment you can offer your special someone.

Give the gift of yourself through the written word. You don't have to write poetry like Frost or sonnets like Shakespeare. If you take the time to craft a love letter that comes from within you, your loved one will treasure it for all time. Take some time today and write your honey a lovely note. Your relationship is worth it and so are you.
