Valentine's Day: Good, bad and ugly

Well another hallmark holiday has come and gone yet again. And we all have survived the romance, lack of romance, and unwanted romantic proposals. Now coming from someone who for the first time ever, had a truly nice evening for V-Day. This may come off as weird. But not so much. Allow me to share my Good, Bad, and Ugly stories with you.

UGLY:

Nothing is worse than finding out someone who you have been dating since high school is cheating on you right before Valentine's Day. But the part that makes the scenario oh so much more worse, is being lied to your face when confronted. This leaves you feeling broken inside and not knowing what to do. Should you end it, and possibly be wrong. Should you keep the relationship going, and be made a fool of. Trying to give someone the benefit of the doubt is always hard. Even when one of your close friends is telling you about his meandering ways. So then when the day for lovers rolls around, and he's at your door with a box of chocolate and some flowers, and all you can do is picture his death. The day is not so great. In fact, it's probably the worst day ever! Not only is he cheating and you can't exactly prove it, but he's lying. This will take you months to get over!

BAD:

You spend a whole week getting ready for this holiday. Picking out an outfit. Even possibly spending money on a small gift. The fateful day arrives and you get hit with the news! He forgot. And not only did he forget, he's out with the guys! You start thinking that you can work with this, he will just be over later. So you call and he give you a time. That time rolls around, and he's still not there. Two more hours pass, and he shows up at the door wreaking of beer and wanting a quick frisk. Yea... that's not happening. Normally you would be down for a quickie, but he blew all chances of sex all together. It takes you a couple days to get over it, but then you two are back to being a couple.

GOOD:

Ah, yes. It's Valentine's Day. You really have no idea what is planned. All you know is that there is dinner. You leave work, and head over to his house. You really haven't put much thought into the holiday this year. Or any holiday for that matter. You are just going with the flow. Keeping things light and simple. After all, all your other relationships failed, better not put too much into this one. So you get to his house, and there is a slight wait for dinner. No problem though. You fill the time laughing and talking. He tells you to take a seat at the table. After seating yourself, out comes a glass of wine, a bowl of soup and some bread. Shortly after comes a plate full of food. When you finish your dinner thinking that was delicious, he brings out dessert. At the end of a nice evening, he gives you a bouquet of pink roses. Pink is after all, your favorite color. You can tell he put lots of thought into this and tried his best. Gold star for him! You will remember this forever!

So there is the good, the bad, and the ugly. Well at least according to me. I'm sure everyone has there own good, bad, and ugly stories to share. But really I wrote this to show everyone there is no reason to give up hope on anything. Especially having a relationship with someone who may completely take you by surprise. Be open to the world around you, and have a little faith. Even if it seems harder at times, you have got to have faith.
