Poetry: As October begins

Ode to Nature

Fall's whispers creep into my ears

As mango skinned leaves color the air

Red, Orange, and rarely green

Paints the canvas of fall's quiet scene

With winds so fierce and trees so dead

Fall awakens winter from its jaded bed

Winter rises and darkens the sky

Stars seem to glow and clouds begin to cry

Tears of ice that make the black roads glisten

Tongues of the children and snowflakes are kissing

As winter soothes its long endured storm

Spring once again is born

Spring cures winter's deadly curse

Revives and brings hope back to Mother Earth

Rejuvenated and refreshing is spring's baby's breath

Brings back to life, flowers touched by the kiss of death

A rainbow of colors that spills from April showers

Invites Summer to the world for it to empower

Summer hums romance to giggling girls

Creates joyous times for a changing world

Sings heat waves that lulls Spring to sleep

Hushes cries of fall's long awaited weep

Summer quietly falls behind the scenes

And allows Fall to paint its quiet serene scene
