Poetry: Harvest time

by Carmella Cyr

Created on: November 16, 2009

harvest your soul you silly man. tis all you have. I can see your silhouette against the summer night sky. I can see the slight frame holding an empty soul against the star filled heavens. I hear you man sluggishly stepping onto the stairs with a slanted gate. I hear your discourse from within. closer in you come now, somehow, you've graduated to being a true shadow of a man. A shadow with a fever, cold to the touch. A shadow, familiar with emptiness, kneeling to examine the harvest brought in from the field. So little to say about the harvest. the corn. So little to say to your farmhands. they know the harvest well. they forsaked an inner heart for it to grow. slight, sluggish, sad. examine your soul you silly man for it is the truth that reaps the harvest.
