In a world where images are everything it is no surprise that people use make up in order to make them selves look and feel better. Make up can be very flattering when it is done right, just look at the results you get after having a make over for a photoshoot say, you look completely different to your normal self. Make up has come a long way from the days when they used a piece of coal for eyeliner but the same principle still remains; they wanted to highlight their best features, and that is what a lot of us still do today.
There is of course those women (or men!) who are so ashamed of their features that they feel the only way to make themselves appreciated by society is to cake themselves in make up. This tangoed or drag queen look is not desirable and goes against the kind of image they were hoping to get. Make up is only good when it highlights features and detracts attention from the bad parts. Caking it on attracts the wrong kind of attention to the whole of the face.
Personally I love makeup and don't leave the house without it, simply because I feel so plain and unattractive without it. I'm not one to cake it on and I know how to apply make up so my eyes are accentuated, my cheeks stand out and I generally look more attractive. Make up does give me confidence to feel beautiful and to do things I may be wouldn't have done without it. Lets face it actors/actresses/models they all have make up because without it their natural look just does nothing to highlight what is good about their face. Some people are very naturally pretty and don't require much make up but you can still do the natural look with make up and make your face stand out without using much at all.
So to sum it up make up is a extremely useful tool in the world of business and in the personal lives of virtually every woman in the word. It makes women feel prettier, more confident, braver and able to stand up to people they wouldn't have done before. Makeup could be defined as a mask that hides a more insecure shell from the bitter web of the world. However there is always one phrase to remember when applying make up; that is less is more!
