Tips on adding applications to your Facebook page

As a newcomer to Facebook, you will probably find within a matter of weeks, your account is completely riddled with application requests and you will start wondering when you signed up to all these different applications and why. Applications are a massive part of Facebook. For some, they are the very reason to join, however for others, they can be the very reason to loose interest in Facebook... fast.

There are applications for everything on Facebook. Some are useful, such as being able to group certain friends together to allow easier methods of following what your friends are up to. Then there are the games. Thousands and thousands of games have been created or adapted especially for use on Facebook. You will also find various versions of what seem to be the same game as well. These are created by individuals attempting to earn a profit, by allowing you free access to these amusing, time wasting games. There are also the most pointless applications of all. Those that involve sending certain objects or feelings to your friends. This can be anything from sending virtual drinks or hugs, to butterflies and tattoos. They have no real purpose, other than perhaps a popularity contest to see who has received the most of such items from their friends.

Facebook applications are definitely a huge part of what makes Facebook what it has become. With so many options for adding application, with friends sending new requests daily, it is important to be able to assess what you really plan to do with your time on Facebook. If you only plan to use it as a social networking site, it is unlikely you will have any real time for applications. If this is the case, your best option is to go through and delete these as they come, but also making sure to block all future applications of such type. You are given this option, which will help eliminate some of the application requests you have coming through. However, be mindful you will never eliminate these entirely as there are new applications being developed every single day.

For many, involvement in some applications can be a fun way to fill in free time. This may involve playing trivia or word games, where you can attempt to gain a greater high score than your friends. These type of applications are popular, but again, avoid adding every single similar type you are invited to, otherwise you will soon be overwhelmed with the choice. The best option for Facebook applications is to decide the kind you like, and stick to a couple of enjoyable ones. These ones you are then able to add to and participate in with your friends, providing you amusement and indirect social time with your friends and family.

It is easy to become addicted to Facebook applications, but be mindful of the time you are using these applications. If you only access Facebook at work, be sure to only play such applications during your lunch break, otherwise you will soon get a reputation for being unprofessional. Sometimes, its safer to simply not add any at all. However, if used in the correct manner, Facebook applications can provide fun and amusement during your down time. You may even develop your skills if playing mind puzzles and other stimulating varieties.
