The best communities for families to live in Washington

Washington State- Best Community for Families

Washington State offers opportunities for all interests of most people so any location within Washington State is a good place to raise a family. One area, Tri-Cities Washington, is better than others are.

Recreational Activities

Tri-Cities Washington offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities for young people. When a child is skilled in a wide spectrum of sports activities a child can excel in any sport with the facilities available in the Tri-Cities Washington area. The softball complex in Pasco Washington earned the rating as number one in the nation. The opportunity to participate in softball games on this facility prepares softball players for many years of playing. Most of the high schools in the area are 4 A schools that earn berths in state championships.

Rural areas surrounding the communities provide the means to have a gentleman farm or ranch so children can engage in equestrian sports. For a horse lover within a non-equestrian family there are several stables where a family can board a horse for that type of child.

The Columbia River provides a wide variety of water sports for a family to enjoy. The family can fish, windsurf, water-ski, or swim. The community has built a bike path named after the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which runs along the river. Families can enjoy the view of the Columbia River while riding their bikes.

Parks are numerous. There are several State Parks. One, Sacajawea, has a historical signification because it sits on the location in which Lewis and Clark first saw the Columbia River. There are several parks build on the land saved by the Army Corp of Engineers as flood plans for the Columbia River because of the network of dams on the river. The activities at these parties vary from water sports, picnicking, playgrounds, and even the site of an Unlimited Hydroplane course.

Housing

Homes remain a good value in the Tri-Cities. The real estate bubble has not occurred in the Tri-Cities and just as it has been for several years a family can purchase a family size home at a reasonable price.

Education

Washington State schools have had challenges this year and the Tri-Cities schools have dealt with them as well as possible. The students can attend schools with a diverse population so students can learn tolerance. If after graduation, the young person wants to remain in town for college there is a community college and a branch campus for Washington State University, but if she wants to go away there are within a short drive Washington's major universities, Washington State University and University of Washington and two regional schools Central Washington University and Eastern Washington University. There are several private colleges, Whitman and Gonzales, with premiere reputations.

If a family is active, the Tri-Cities Washington should be considered. Washington State has many areas that are enjoyable for any family, but the Tri-Cities offer everything.
