Why Americans should support the troops!

If you have to even hesitate or question your answer...then you don't support them! If you come from a military family or have friends that are in or were in the military, then you probably possess a soft spot in your heart for our American heroes.

It doesn't matter what your political stance is, or what color you are, or even what religion you are. When it comes right down to it...we are all AMERICANS FIRST & FOREMOST! We need to start acting like Americans! Instead of someone acting like a fool to a returning Vet from the front...we need to understand that we...as Americans are one big family.

That military personnel is someone's son, or daughter just like you and me. When someone is acting or saying something disrespectful, its like someone being disrespectful to a member of your family. Let's try to remember that next time, and go up to a member of the military and THANK them for what they are doing!

Support, what does that word mean? Well, if you look it up, it means to bear the weight of something, to give active help or encouragement, to give assistance, and many other definitions. That is what our military give us...they bear the weight of our rights and freedom, they help other people so they too can maybe have a better life and a chance for freedom. They give their lives so that we have a right to say whatever we want, or practice what religion we want.

Many people forget how they felt in the weeks following September 11th. There was a sense of togetherness, like a family. You could ride down the street and see many US car flags flying on your fellow Americans cars. Every time you saw a flag, you would well up with American pride for the good ole red, white and blue!

We, as a nation need that sense of pride again. That feeling of patriotism that you get when you see American soldiers coming home to their families after fighting for peace for us.

So, the next time you see a veteran or a member of the worlds finest in uniform, try to remember that they are fighting to keep your family safe. They are doing the hardest and most unappreciated job in the US, and they are soldiers that are proud and believe in what they are doing!

If you don't support them...feel free to grab a weapon and stand in front of them, they are doing it for you and me and the future of this great nation. Tell them "thank you", or "we support you". That is all they want to hear from us, is that we are thankful. God bless the troops!
