Since its inception, Facebook has become one of the top social network websites for people from around the world to connect personally and professionally.
But let's say you have a business you would like to promote or maybe there is a cause that you feel passionate about and you would like to organize movement?
This is where Facebook pages has become a great tool to promote your brand. President Obama efficiently used his Facebook page last year to connect with younger voters and convey his political message a lot faster than he would have in traditional media channels.
Some other popular fan pages include retailer H&M, Coca Cola, Dunkin Doughnuts, Pizza Hut, Career Builder, Victoria's Secret, even the Aflac Duck has a popular page.
Below are a few steps to create your own Facebook page. The great thing about Facebook pages is that you can create as many as you want and in different genres. Unless you are a computer wizard, it might take some time to create an eye popping page. But the idea here is to at least try create to one.
Steps to create a Facebook Page:
Go to www.facebeok.com/pages/
Click on the "About" section on the right hand side of the page. This will lead you to Facebook Pages, from here click on "Create a Page" on the right hand side.
On "Create New Facebook Page", you will asked to choose between "Local", "Band, Product or Organization" and "Artist, Band and Public Figure". Choose the one that fits your page idea best.
Create a name of for your page on the "Name Your Page" section. There will be box saying "Do not make Page publicly visible at this time". If you are not ready for your page to been seen online, check mark the box.
Click on the blue "Create Page" button at the bottom. Now you have created a page. The page is a blank slate where you can add your ideas to the page. When you click on "edit page" underneath the question mark box, you can create Events, add links, create discussions, upload video, photos, etc.
Have fun with your Facebook page. Try different ideas. Some pages are graphic heavy, some are not. But remember, your Facebook page is not about how many quizzes and videos you can post, but its about how message or page connects with your fans.
