Madonna Louise Ciccone, or Madonna is an American singer who is probably the most famous woman in the music industry today. Born in 1958 it is hard to believe that Madonna, or as her fans call her, Madge, is almost fifty. With a body and face that defies her years Madonna appears to be growing from strength to strength although in recent years she has diversified.

Madonna released her debut album, simply called Madonna, in 1983. Aged 25 she was not quite the young new artist that many people thought she was. Having served her musical apprenticeship with a couple of bands.

Like A Virgin was the hit single that Brought Madonna world-wide fame in 1984 and she has maintained a successful music career since then. Her career has had its ups and downs and more than its fair share of controversy. Let's face it though Madonna thrives on controversy. Her stage performances were always designed to shock and Madonna has stretched so many boundaries.

Marriage to actor Sean Penn for quite some time, a long term affair with Warren Beatty and more recently marriage to Guy Richie shows that Madonna has had plenty of love interest over the years. Currently she is single.

Her adoption of more than one orphan child from a third world country has also seen Madonna receive bad publicity. This is especially true now she is on her own once again.

Musically Madonna seems to be an expert at reinventing herself. Madonna's music has changed over the years with changing trends which has kept her fresh. However far from following trends Madonna has often initiated new musical styles. Her image has also altered many times over the years. Madonna has been blond, brunette, classy, tarty and so much more.

Madonna's movie career has been a bit of a non starter. She has appeared in various films which have mostly been unsuccessful. These days Madonna is trying her hand at being an author and has had some success.

Overall this talented lady looks here to stay. Love her or loathe her it is hard to ignore her. Madonna has had so many hits over the years and it would seem that is set to continue for some time to come.

In the last few years Madonna had a big hit with Hung Up On You. This music incorporated Abba music and it is a credit to her that Abba agreed to this use. The video which accompanied Hung Up On You showed a fit and youthful Madonna who, it was hard to believe, was in her forties. She proved once again that she is a great mover and dancer. In fact an all round entertainer. Madonna's fan base includes young and old from around the world.
