This book is aimed at teenagers who enjoy fashion; it is the book for them.
It starts with four girls at school, who would not be seen dead with each other, but end up working together on fashion projects.
The story line is very strong and is written from the view of Janie Farrish, who had been suffering with acne, but this year, her first year, it has all cleared up. She will no longer be picked on and criticized by her peers.
She cannot wait to show everyone her new look for the beginning of her sophomore year.
However in the end she feel that she has been showing off a bit to much to her friends, just to make herself feel more and more popular at school.
The problem is her twin brother Jake, who also trying to be the certain of the crowd and be one of the popular guys of the year.
Jane is upset when he starts joining in the crowd she is with and is attracted to her enemy, Charlotte, this really upsets her.
To take her mind off it she delves more deeply into her drawing, to keep her mind off her Jake and Charlotte together.
She begins to doubt her attractiness, even other tell her she is attractive, until she meets up with Evan, who is a senior who has just transferred back to Winston.
Charlotte has always been the most popular trendsetter in the school; since she can afford any clothes, she wants and attracts any guy she wants. She decides she wants Jake, but feels that Janie is getting in their way, so tries to play the nice Charlotte to Jake, but Janie has not forgotten the nick name Charlotte gave her last year, that terrible nickname of Pompidou!
Another girl featured in this book is Melissa Moon, who is half-Korean and half African-American and the daughter of a very famous rapper.
She is optimistic for her future, and wants to start it as soon as possible; she wants to be rich, powerful and successful and wants it now!
She wants everyone to know her name and want her goods.
The Other girl featured in this book is Petra Green, who is just naturally beautiful, who tries to look plain and ugly, but never succeeds. She wears mismatched clothes, tries to make her look non-perfect, but what ever she does to herself, her natural beauty shines though.
Her father is a plastic surgeon and tries to get new customers claiming that all of Petra's looks are down to him and his plastic surgery, his work is more important than his family. So all Petra wants to do is take care of her adopted sisters and ensure that they all survive their messed up home life.
All these girls plan and propose their own special study groups, but the school has other ideas and combines them into one group, so they are thrown together.
At first they hate the idea, they are all extremely different from each other, but have one passion in life that they all share, FASHION
All four girls propose their own special studies group, only to have them morph into one, whether they like it or not. Even though each girl is extremely different, they have one thing in common - their passion for fashion.
They find that all their skills drawn together will help them conquer the fashion industry.
This book is funny, very witty and very hilarious in places; a great book to everyone would loves fashion and has dreams.
